MapleStone is a special purpose school located in the foothills of Southern Maine. We provide a highly supportive, intimate, family-style academic environment with all the advantages of a rural farm setting. Our mission is to assist students who require an alternative learning environment by using a personalized approach to experiential education.
Established in 2001, MapleStone is a non-profit school whose cornerstones are trust, respect, choice and responsibility. Students are provided with a hands on learning approach with several themed programs and academics are an integral part of the vocational trades.
Mentoring at MapleStone allows students the freedom to use exploration and problem solving as a democratic process, leading to enhanced self-esteem, self-confidence and self-awareness.
We provide numerous opportunities to learn effective communication, team work, relationship building, all the while increasing student’s exposure to life’s possibilities. MapleStone also has a full time Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) on-site.
In addition to the academics offered through the themed programs, MapleStone offers instruction in:
- Literacy – with a Literacy Specialist
- Driver’s Permits/License
- Co-op/Work Study program offered through local businesses for seniors
Students Completing Program leave with:
- Vocational Skills
- Focused post-secondary goals & objectives
- Social & behavior skills needed to succeed
- Academic credits
